SCHOOL POLICIES

The health and safety of our Quartertonez family remains our top priority.  In compliance with the CDC guidelines, Quartertonez staff is monitoring the Omicron variant development as well as the response of local school districts.  We have met with Dr. Jehan El-Bayoumi MD, Founder of the Rodham Institute and Professor of Medicine at George Washington University, for recommendations for in-person lessons and receiving the most up-to-date information as the situation continues to evolve.  Based on recent developments Quartertonez Music is recommending the following.

  • All teachers, staff, and students above the age of 12 are recommended to be fully vaccinated in order to conduct in-person lessons, individually or in a group.  If you are not vaccinated you are required to provide either a negative PCR test  taken at least 72-hour before the first lesson or a negative Antigen test taken at least 24-hours before the first lesson.
  • If you are fully vaccinated you must provide proof of vaccination on the first day of class as you enter the building.  We highly recommend that all of our students, staff, and teachers are fully vaccinated and boosted to protect our Quartertonez family and community.  If you are not vaccinated and have not provided a negative test you must join the class virtually until one of the above is fulfilled.
  • Students 5-11 are recommended to be fully vaccinated by March 14th 2022 to conduct in person lessons.
  • If any student tests positive during the semester, the in-person class will be suspended and go virtually. We will then start working on the safest plan to resume the in-person class; this can take a couple of weeks depending on factors such as: when we were notified about the COVID-19 case, and whether there was direct exposure, among other elements that will be considered. In all cases, we strongly recommend that all students and staff test negative before coming back.  There are a number of free testing sites all over the DMV area.  We have provided a few links below.  In addition, there are free at-home tests one can order or pick up from their local library or order at the link below.

  • Any student who tests positive needs to stay home and quarantine for 5 days according to the CDC guidelines. After the 5-days are completed, they must wear a surgical protective  KN95, KF94 or N95 Masks. All students must wear masks at all times during the group class and stay at least 6 feet apart.

If a Quatertonez Music teacher is not comfortable teaching students who are not fully vaccinated then the lessons must remain online.  At Quartertonez Music we want to make sure everyone in our community feels heard and safe.

Pianos and door knobs will be disinfected after each use and the building is cleaned on a regular basis to ensure the safety of our Quartertonez family.

Group lessons for students 1-4 will be postponed until May 2022 as we continue to monitor the situation.  The protection of our young students is our utmost priority and thus our Music FUN-damentals class will be postponed until May 7, 2022.

  • For in person performances we require a fully vaccinated house.
  • All students, parents, teachers and audience members must be fully vaccinated in order to attend in-person performances.  You are considered fully vaccinated two weeks after you have received your second dose vaccine.
  • All students, teachers, parents and staff that are eligible for a Covid booster are required to receive it before attending in-person performances.

  • If a student has an in-person lesson and has been exposed to Covid-19 and must quarantine, this lesson will be moved from in-person to virtual.  A 24-hour notice must be given so that our teachers may be adequately prepared for moving from in-person to online.

We are taking the above measures out of an abundance of caution so that we all stay safe and healthy. As the situation evolves we will update through email and through this link. For more information on the Covid-19 pandemic development, we recommend the use of www.gwdocs.com for daily updates.

As for the teacher’s scheduling policy the teacher will indicate her/his availability for that month before the 1st of the month as well. If the teacher makes an unexpected cancellation the student won’t be charged unless a make-up lesson is scheduled. If a teacher is late to a lesson, they are required to make up that time in additional lessons.

If a Quatertonez Music teacher is not comfortable teaching students who are not fully vaccinated then the lessons must remain online.  At Quartertonez Music we want to make sure everyone in our community feels heard and safe.

Lesson payments will be charged at the end of the month based on how many lessons are given and the type of lessons.  The charge for one month of lessons will depend on the number of lessons you and your teacher have agreed upon. We now offer three different types of lessons; virtual, at school and at home.  The prices of each lesson change based on the location and type of lesson, please see the chart below for pricing information.
