Kevin Webb is a talented baritone and rising star in the opera world, currently pursuing his Master of Music at the University of Maryland, where he is studying with Bass-Baritone Kevin Short. Kevin’s musical journey began at the Detroit School of Arts, where he majored in voice and further honed his skills with The Mosaic Youth Theater of Detroit. His high school years saw him perform in productions such as Woodward Wonderland and The Gospel at Colonus.
Kevin earned his Bachelor of Arts in Music from Morgan State University, studying under the guidance of the esteemed Soprano Marquita Lister. His dedication to vocal excellence earned him the distinction of first-place winner in the district competition of the National Association of Teachers of Singing in 2016.
Throughout his career, Kevin has gained valuable performance experience. He took on the role of Don José in excerpts from Carmen during the 2017-2018 season of Opera Morgan, and in the 2018-2019 season, he performed the role of King Kaspar in Amahl and the Night Visitors. Kevin’s recent achievements include an invitation to perform on Good Morning America and WQXR Classical Radio. He is also set to debut the role of Solomon in Orgullo at Joe’s Pub in New York City.
With a diverse background in both opera and musical theater, Kevin continues to expand his repertoire and is poised for a bright future in the world of classical and operatic performance.
