JOUELLE ROBERSON

Jouelle Roberson, soprano, hails from Washington DC, Jouelle attended Duke Ellington School for the Arts. She earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Vocal Performance at Morgan State University studying with Marquita Lister. She then continued at Manhattan School of Music where she completed the Professional Studies Program Certificate.

She was a finalist in the Butler Opera International Competition, where she won 4th place. She was also a 2024 finalist in the Houston Grand Opera Eleanor McCollum Competition. Where she was awarded the online audience award. She also received the audience choice award in the Annapolis Opera Vocal Competition. Ms. Roberson has received both the Renata Tebaldi Award and the Public Award as a finalist in the Vincerò First Italian Worldwide Opera Competition in 2022. While attending MSM she was the 1st place winner in the Ades Vocal Competition held each year at the prestigious school. She was recently a participant in the Milnes Voices program as well as a Gerdine Young Artist at Opera Theater of St. Louis where she was awarded the Richard Gaddes Career Award.

Ms. Roberson graces the stage at Maryland opera with their New Voices in Opera program. Where she brought to life the role of Oshun in their production of Oshun.

JOUELLE ROBERSON in 2024

In 2024 she returned to her Alma mater, Morgan State University, to play the title role of Treemonisha in Opera at Morgan an Opera Ebony’s production of Treemonisha. As a member of Saratoga Opera’s Young Artist Program and Atlanta Opera Studio, Jouelle has won kudos for her performances in both lead and supporting roles. She sang the title role in Puccini’s Suor Angelica with Opera Lucca. Mary in Grant Still’s Highway 1 with Opera at Morgan.

With her deep expertise and unwavering enthusiasm, Jouelle continues to inspire students to master their craft and develop a lifelong passion for music.
